Downtown Augusta, Georgia, is a short 45-minute drive south-east of Savannah Lakes Village. it is easily accessible to most of the Southeast via its prime location on Interstate 20. The Savannah River serves as the state line and separates Augusta, Georgia from North Augusta, South Carolina.

Founded as a trading outpost during the British colonial period, Augusta is the second oldest and second largest city in Georgia and today stands as a center for medicine, the military, and manufacturing. However, the city is best known for being the home to the Masters’ Golf Tournament, held the first week in April at the Augusta National Golf Course.

Augusta has much to see and do, from touring historic homes and fine art exhibitions to relaxing along Riverwalk Augusta, a two-tiered park along the historic Savannah River. Augusta has four primary venues for concerts and events. The Miller Theater, the Imperial Theater, the Bell Auditorium, and the James Brown Arena. Dozens of musical groups and performing artists travel to Augusta year-round. The intimate venues offer for incredible experiences instead of the 10,000+ seat stadiums you might find most of the visiting performers playing at in other cities.

Additionally, Augusta has two new downtown campuses geared towards cyber-security. Both offer classes to residents and non-residents and serve to get students ready for the security concerns of the future. No matter how you slice it, Augusta is soon to go from its current slow-pace, free parking downtown, to a massive metropolitan area over the next decade and beyond.
