Atlanta, Georgia
Atlanta, Georgia is a two-hour drive west of Savannah Lakes Village. Atlanta is home to thousands of restaurants, dozens of cultural centers, and some of the best nightlife in the world. The Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport has been the world’s busiest airport by passenger traffic since 1998. Given its passenger volume, it’s also great for those living at Savannah Lakes Village looking to vacation or have family come to visit. Countless music groups, festivals, parades and fairs pass through the greater Atlanta area each year.
Atlanta is home to one of the best Aquariums in the country. With over a hundred thousand animals in over 10 million gallons of salt water. In fact, until 2012, it was the largest aquarium in the world!
The city is also the worldwide headquarters of Coca-Cola, CNN and numerous other Fortune 500 companies. Touring CNN’s headquarters is a news-junkies delight, while Coca-Cola’s headquarters may offer you something a bit more palatable in today’s current media climate.
Atlanta was also home to the 1996 Olympics. The image above is the Olympic park in the center of the city that offers great views and many things to do outdoors. If you have the chance to visit Piedmont Park, just north-east of the city center, be sure to check out the botanical gardens – they’re out of this world!
